Closing Loops
Winter Solstice is just around the corner and we are in the final days of whats left of the Metal Season before it officially shifts to Water.
For some reason, this year more than others, this vital transition is calling me to pay attention. Metal and the end of this year is compelling me to bring about closure and tie up loose ends.
When I bring this out into the macrocosm of the collective energies and patterns this invitation is supported by the themes of numerology, we are finishing a 9 year and moving into a 1. Closure and new beginnings. In the Chinese Calendar we move from Snake energy and shedding of old skins and obligations to ready ourselves for the year of the Horse with it's bold, dynamic forward movement in the pursuit of freedom and progress.
Which brings me to the question that I find myself asking.
What requires closure?
Whether in my physical body, space, my work, in my relationships. Odd things that I've been tolerating that are taking up precious mental bandwidth. If I only took the few minutes or hours to address them.
To be honest, the last one there, has been a big one. In late September I came to the decision that I was done tolerating these small little nuisances that were all manageable but collectively driving me crazy.
So instead of just repeating to myself "it's fine" I started one by one addressing them and beginning the process of closing the loops.
Appointments needed to be booked, time needed to be spent. Intentional energy had to be reigned in, and slowly, with each little completion, I felt my body and my mind relax.
As a result, a block in my creativity that I wasn't even fully aware of opened up. I could write more freely, I could make art with greater ease, I was willing to take more risks and I had more clarity on my next steps and what I actually wanted.
Bringing closure to even the smallest of things has allowed me greater freedom to be in the flow of possibility and curiosity.
A clear shift from Metal which upholds the requirements of needing adequacy, meaning and completion to make way for the organic transition to Water, which lends itself to taking risks, experiencing freedom and living in deeper authenticity.
In this moment of transition, as Metal gives way to Water and its spacious possibility, I invite you to reflect on what requires your attention. You may journal these or simply let the question roll around in your awareness and see what emerges.
Writing Prompt:
What requires closure in your immediate awareness?
Where are you being guided to close loops and let go or move on?
You may find that a few things spring to mind right away. Take care of those first. If you have many, choose the quickest and fastest one and get it out of the way. You'll be amazed at how even the smallest of completions bring about calm and completeness in your body and your inner knowing.
So, as we cross this threshold into Water’s domain of curiosity and courage, may you feel empowered to release what’s complete and open the door to what wants to begin.
I’m honoured to be walking this seasonal transition with you.
